Does Acne Ever Go Away?
If you have acne, you’ve probably wondered (a lot) about when it would stop popping up and finally leave you alone for good.
You've probably always heard that acne was a teenage problem and would go away after you turned 18. Except that you’re 27… 35…or 56 and you still have breakouts? How frustrating!
This is one of the biggest concerns and causes of embarrassment among new clients I meet. I reassure them that adult acne is extremely common: some statistics show that more than 50% of people between the ages of 20-70 have acne, and a large majority of those are women. Most of the acne clients we see at our acne clinic are over the age of 20.
The truth is, acne is a gene that activates (turns on) at any age, and also deactivates one day.
While your acne gene is active, your pores fill up with extra layers of dead skin cells on a daily basis. Acne can not be cured, but it can be kept under control by managing your pores every day.
The good news is that one day, that acne gene will deactivate, and your pores will go back to normal. I have seen this happen to a handful of clients of all different ages - sometimes it happens at age 18, and sometimes at 60.
Until your acne gene deactivates, acne can be effectively kept under control without medication - we have had over a 95% success rate in treating acne for over 10 years.
Using specific topical products combined with some simple dietary and lifestyle modifications can get - and keep - your acne completely under control.
